In a global competition for the best corporate Web sites, Olympic Hot Tub Co. of Seattle has garnered top honors in the retail category.
The WebAward Competition was hosted by the Web Marketing Association, an organization of online professionals from around the world.
More than 2,300 entries from 35 nations were judged. Olympic was recognized along with high-profile brands such as IKEA, L.L. Bean and Nike Women. Olympic’s Web site was honored for ease of use, interactivity, design, content and copywriting.
Prior to entering the awards program, Olympic embarked on a complete redesign of its Web site.
“We felt that our site was outdated,” said company co-owner Alice Cunningham. “It had been up since 1996. Over the years, we just tacked things on. It had too many pages and [inefficient] navigation.”
Olympic enlisted the help of InfoAdvantage, LLC, to design an online retail concept. The Internet marketing group is based in Bellevue, Wash.
“We excelled in this competition because of [their] focus, creativity and approach to elegant, user-friendly design,” Cunningham said. She also noted that monthly page views have reached 20,000 since the launch of the new Web site. Sales have gone up as well.
“Customers and prospects are flocking to our new site.” Cunningham said.
She added that she is pleased with the feedback, which makes the fruit of her labor as copywriter seem even sweeter. “It took me almost a year to rewrite,” she said, “but it was worth the effort.”
