Methamphetamine labs are a serious health hazard to all involved with them. Medical literature reports health hazards for law enforcement personnel from repeated exposure to methamphetamine and related chemical compounds. Cleaning up meth labs is nasty, dirty work that can cause dangerous long term health hazards.
Many effects go away after a few days, but some Utah police officers with employment-related methamphetamine exposures developed chronic symptoms, some leading to disability. In a new study designed by Utah MethCops Project of the American Detoxification Foundation in Salt Lake City, Utah, police officers sickened from this toxic chemical exposure were treated with a sauna detoxification protocol. The protocol involved using gradual exercise, nutritional advice and physical sauna therapy.
The outcomes included significantly reduced chronic symptoms, improved quality of life and ability to return to work for police officers previously thought to be disabled.
Sixty-nine officers entering the Utah Meth Cops Project were assessed before and after the treatment program involving gradual exercise, comprehensive nutritional support and physical sauna therapy. Evaluations included pre- and post-treatment questionnaires and health surveys as well as neurotoxicity scores, Mini-Mental Status Examination, presenting symptom frequencies and a structured evaluation of treatment program safety.
Statistically significant health improvements were seen in the health questionnaires, physical examinations, symptom scores and neurotoxicity scores. The detoxification protocol was entirely beneficial, with a 92.8% completion rate.
The study results strongly suggest that using sauna and nutritional therapy may ease chronic symptoms appearing after chemical exposures associated with methamphetamine-related law enforcement activities. This report also shows that sauna therapy can have positive results addressing the ill effects of other complex chemical exposures. The researchers said due to the broad clinical improvement in the study participants, more study should be done on sauna-based treatment. We certainly agree with that!
We’ve seen some Olympic Hot Tub Finnleo sauna owners make a near-complete recovery from toxic chemical exposure by using their infrared saunas daily. If you or anyone you know is suffering from toxic chemical exposure, wouldn’t a natural remedy such as trying a far infrared sauna be worth a try?
