Having a hot tub is like having a year-round vacation right in your own backyard. It's a place to escape the cares of the day and spend some quiet time alone or with someone you love - and it can bring your family closer together.
"The hot tub is fast becoming the new kitchen table; moms, dads and kids alike are soaking together after a long, hard day. It's instant relaxation," says Dirk Caudell, chairman of the National Spa & Pool Institute's Hot Tub Council. "Homeowners between the ages of 35 and 54 are looking to spend time together and be with their families, and they're flocking to hot tub dealerships across the country to take a test soak."
"The NSPI conducted three separate studies to uncover the psychology behind buying decisions related to hot tubs," says Jack Cergol, Director of Communications, NSPI. "The research revealed both qualitatively and quantitatively, a finding that we hadn't anticipated: that hot tub owners wholeheartedly believe their hot tubs enhance their relationships."
"What couples and families find is that the hot tub quickly quiets nerves and helps one re-focus almost immediately after a long hectic day, making way for quiet conversation," says Sharyn Wolf, CSW, author of How to Stay Lovers for Life (Dutton: 1997, Plume, 1998), a licensed therapist and NSPI spokesperson. "What better way to enhance a relationship than with a 'built-in 'marriage counselor' with bubbles?"
"The typical time-starved family these days spends less than 20 minutes together conversing each day," says Sharyn Wolf, "The hot tub is a bridge that helps you float back to the things that really matter, like family, friends, relaxation, and fun."
"I'm excited to talk about ways for couples and families to strengthen their relationships," says Wolf. "Solid marriages and relationships have become a status symbol in the 90s - but maintaining one is increasingly challenging. The pace of the world today is almost overwhelming, and hot tubs offer us an oasis from all of this - a bridge where we can re-connect with one another, as well as ourselves, and get back to the good things in life."
A hot tub brings all-season fun for the whole family. Kids love hot tubs! It's a favorite celebration spot for Birthday Parties, End-of-Season Parties, and family get-togethers. Hot tubs are always part of Christmas, and special holidays, too. Sometimes it's all kids, and sometimes all generations in a family. Sometimes it's cousins and siblings, other times it's the whole ball club. But whatever the occasion, the hot tub is the focal point.
